Limitation of voltage changes, voltage fluctuations and flicker in public low-voltage supply systems, for equipment with rated current ≤ 16 A per phase and not subject to conditional connection
EN/IEC 61000-3-3 Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
Part 3: Limits – Section 3: Limitation of voltage fluctuations and Flicker in low-voltage supply systems for equipment with rated current < 16A
EN/IEC 61000-3-3 is the European Norm/International standard that covers the limitation of voltage fluctuations and flicker that affects the public low-voltage system. It specifies limits of voltage changes which may be generated by an equipment evaluated under specified conditions and gives guidance on methods of assessment.
It is applicable to electrical and electronic equipment that has an input current less than or equal to 16 A per phase, connected to public low-voltage distribution systems of between 220 V 50 Hz and 250 V 50Hz (line to neutral), and which is not subject to conditional connection.
EN/IEC 61000-3-3 is allocated the level of a Product Family standard within the EN/IEC 61000 series and is part of a regulatory compliance plan needed to show compliance to the EU EMC Directive, 2014/30/EU.
Annex A of this standard identifies the applications of limits and specific test conditions for specific
equipment types. Some examples are:
Television Sets, Audio Equipment, Computers, DVD Players, and Similar Equipment
Lighting and similar equipment
Copy Machines, Laser Printers, and similar Devices
Baking Ovens/Grills Combination Units
Microwave Ovens
Washing Machines
Tumbler Dryers
Refrigerators
Portable Tools
Audio Frequency Amplifiers
Air Conditioners Dehumidifiers, Heat Pumps, and Commercial Refrigeration Equipment
Arc Welding Equipment and allied processes
